There are several television shows I’ve watched so many times that they’re memorized, but just as funny, just as good, every time. Friends is one of those shows for me. And every time I watch the episode where Monica wants to be “the mom who bakes the BEST chocolate chip cookies” I have to MAKE ALL THE COOKIES. The power of suggestion works every time on me, I’m a sucker. As you can imagine diets go really well for me.

But is there really anything better than a warm chocolate chip cookie? I mean who doesn’t want to curl up with cookies and milk? I like to think of myself as a connoisseur of chocolate chip cookies. (That just means I’ve eaten a lot of them.) I’ve tried many recipes over the years, including my own mom’s recipe which is beloved in her circle. So I thought I’d round up the best of them and share them for my readers! (click on the recipe name to take you to the recipe)

Recipe #1: The Best Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

This one comes to you from Pinch of Yum. And they are YUM. The key here is you have to follow the directions exactly. You’ll be glad you did. Don’t mess around thinking you can wing it. The results will speak for themselves. This recipe is my current favorite. I even tried them in our new Kitchen Aide Countertop Convection Oven, and I liked the results even better than a conventional oven. [Side note: we have extremely hot summers where we live, so any kind of baking or cooking in the conventional oven turns our first floor into a sauna in the summer… so a convection oven is a MUST.]

Recipe #2: Bakery Style Chocolate Chip Cookies

From blogger Stuck on Sweet, this recipe is similar in ingredients but different in preparation. The result is a delicious cookie that’s a little crispier on the bottom, and a little flatter than the previous recipe. If you like a “fluffier” cookie, this one might not be for you.

They still turn out chewy, gooey and wonderful. And I would highly recommend it to anyone. Like I said, I very rarely meet a cookie I don’t like.

Recipe #3: Chocolate Chip Caramel Stuffed Cookies

The name alone should cause heavy drooling. Or maybe I just really love caramel. To be fair I only experimented with these once, and since I was already making the cookies in Recipe #1 (above) I thought I’d just make some caramel ones as well. I had bought the Kraft Caramel Candies (soft, individually wrapped) and opened a few, cut them in half. Then wrapped the cookie dough around them to form a ball. I did find that they had to bake longer than the regular cookies, the top portion of the cookie was not cooked through in the same amount of time as a regular chocolate chip cookie.

[Baking note: This was the result in a countertop convection oven, so results in a conventional oven may very.] Now maybe it was the caramel candies I used, but I was a little disappointed in the texture of the caramel. My heart was probably thinking Milky Way Bar or turtle brownies but that was not the consistency. I plan to experiment with other types of caramel in the future.

So now that you’re ready to bake some cookies, what are your favorite cookie recipes? Maybe you have a secret family recipe from Nes-lay Too-louse, just might want to check the back of that bag of Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chips before you get carried away. 😉 Happy baking! But better yet, happy eating!
